Telangana Government is planning to start WI-Fi services across greater Hyderabad metropolitan area. The entire Hyderabad city would have Wi-Fi connectivity with an initial free package and later with charges, beginning with a few Wi-Fi hotspots being established in the city by October.
Telangana IT minister K.T. Rama Rao told the media that the state government was in talks with several service providers to establish Wi-Fi hotspots in the city. “We are taking a leaf out of the cities like Mountain View and Houston for offering Wi-Fi services. We are speaking to service providers. We would want to be the first city in the country that provides Wi-Fi hotspots across its length and breadth,”
Mr K. T. Rama Rao said the first phase would be rolled out in October after which the entire city will be covered in phases. He also said 4G services would be launched in Hyderabad very soon.
