Government is exploring new possibilities to increase Telangana State revenues. Besides increasing VAT on gold ornaments, it is also mulling to enhance VAT on textiles sale in shopping malls.

Telangana Commercial Taxes minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said big shopping malls, jewellery shops, corporate hospitals and even cinema halls were not remitting taxes regularly.

Telangana government would crack a whip against such business houses in the coming days. He later appealed to the traders to pay taxes on time and do their bit for development of the new State.

He added that online facility would be introduced soon for tax payments.

Talasani also informed that all the government hospitals in twin cities would get an additional power line to cope up with the unexpected power outages.

He further said government was taking all steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply to schools and colleges.
