Telangana Government Stops Funds for Welfare Schemes
State government of Telangana has imposed restrictions on spending on welfare schemes and has frozen all payments till October 2016. The Telangana state government seems to have funds for all projects other than its welfare schemes. In an indication of its tight financial condition, the Telangana state government has imposed restrictions on spending on welfare schemes and has frozen all payments till the October.
Releasing funds for scholarships, fee reimbursement for students, social security pensions and medical reimbursement Bills has been stopped. Which affect lakhs of students, pensioners and employees. The Telangana State government had presented a budget of Rs 1.33 lakh crores for the year 2016-17, of which plan expenditure accounts for Rs 72,195 crores and non-plan expenditure Rs 61,622 crores. 5 months of this financial year from April to August is almost over.
The amount spent is :
For Irrigation projects – Rs 10,000 cr
For Water Grid – Rs 3,000 cr
For Salaries – Rs 8,000 cr
For Crop loan waiver – Rs 2,000 cr
For Fee reimbursement – Rs 1,200 cr
The Total amount spent from April to August = Rs 25,500
