Telangana government issued orders ( GO Ms No.33) Laying down the terms of reference of th 10th pay Revision commission( PRC) according which all the retired employees will get a minimum pension of Rs 6,500.

Earlier, the cut off years of service to get full pension had been fixed at 33 years. The employees retired with 33 years of service or more will be eligible for full pension, which is 50 per cent of the minimum basic pay at the time of retirement. A retired employee with less than 33 years of service would get 25 per cent of the minimum basic pay. In the Ninth PRC, it was relaxed by five years

However, in the Tenth PRC, the year limit has been eliminated and all the employees retired irrespective of their number of years in service are eligible for full pension. As per the rules, the existing last grade basic salary is Rs 13,100 (for class-IV employees) and 50 per cent of it is Rs 6,550, and the government decided to fix a round figure of Rs 6,500.

Welcoming the move, Telangana Udyogula Sangham said the revised pension policy would largely benefit the employees getting job on compassionate ground. “Many employees may not be able to fulfill the minimum number of years norm as they join the service much late. The government’s move to do away with this norm is appreciated,” said Mamidi Narayana, chairman of Telangana Udyogula Sangham.

There is no difference on retirement gratuity or enhanced earned leave in case of employees who retired between July 1, 2013 and June 1, 2014. As regard to arrears from June 2, 2014 to February 28, 2015 a separate order will be issued. All employees retired or died while in service prior to July 1, 2013 are also eligible for the new pension scale.
