Telangana Government Announced Water Grid Project
Taking a cue from the Gujarat Government over water management, the Telangana Government on August 5th announced Telangana Water Grid project, estimated approximately at Rs25,000 crore to resolve the drinking water problem in Telangana State.
While addressing a press meet in Karimnagar last night, the Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrasekhar Rao said, “The grid – will use 160 TMC ft water and is likely to be completed in four years time”.
Chief minister of telangana KCR also said the water grid would use 80 TMC ft each from Godavari and Krishna rivers. All ongoing drinking water projects in telangana will be integrated into the proposed project.
Speaking at a length on the project, Chief minister KCR said the water grid would be modeled on the lines of Gujarat. The State Legislators and officials will visit Gujarat to study the project there.
