Telangana Cabinet Decisions
Chief Minister of Telangana said that Telangana cabinet yesterday decided to create some more districts in Telangana State.
Telangana State was created last year after bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, Currently Telangana State has 10 districts including the capital city Hyderabad.
As part of fulfilling our poll promise, the cabinet today decided to create some more districts. A committee headed by chief secretary has been appointed to make recommendations,” KCR told reporters after Telangana cabinet meeting. KCR said on an average each district has 19 lakh population whereas average population per district in Telangana stands at 35 lakh making it a fit case for carving out new districts.
Kcr also said “ the cabinet has decided to put off its move to introduce cheap liquor for this year. We have received mixed response from public. So we have decided not to introduce cheap liquor this year,” The chief minister, however, said the government would deal firmly with the menace of ‘gudamba’ (arrack) as it was playing havoc with the lives of people. He said an officer of the rank of inspector general of police will be appointed to control ‘gudamba’. He also said “If necessary, PD (preventive detention) Act will be used against the gudamba traders,”.
Telangana government will be spending Rs.81,000 crore in next 3 years to complete pending irrigation projects and take up two new projects to lift water from the Godavari and Krishna rivers.
KCR said “We have completed the process of redesigning of all existing projects irrigation in Telangana, to benefit the state as much as possible,” .
KCR said the monsoon session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly will be convened from September 23 after he returns from his China tour.
