Samantha appreciated the Minister’s initiative in supporting the Handloom art. She has agreed to be brand ambassador forTelangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society ( TSCO).
TS Minister KTR, who has earlier given a call to the celebs to endorse handlooms, has tweeted, “Thanks @Samanthaprabhu2 for agreeing to be TSCO Handloom ambassador. Let’s make handlooms fashionable.”.
Earlier, the likes of Kamal Haasan and Samantha’s in-laws, the Akkineni family has also responded positively to KTR’s call.
Samantha enquired about the state policies and initiatives taken by Telangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society (TSCO) in promoting handloom while sharing her ideas on how to furthering the cause. She said she has researched about the various handloom clusters in the state and also showed a piece of handwoven cloth she has brought from Karimnagar weavers. She outlined some of her plans about how value-addition can happen to increase the sales of handlooms.
Samantha explained to the minister about some specific value additions to works of Gadwal, and Pochampally handlooms, which can greatly enhance the saleability of these fabrics.
Minister gifted her with a pochampally saree and Stoll. Principal Secretary (Industries) Jayesh Ranjan and Director of TSCO Shailaja Ramaiyer and others were present.
