Night Curfew in Delhi Starts Today
On Friday the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said Delhi was going through the fourth wave of COVID-19 and lockdown was not being considered yet.
Night Curfew in Delhi will start from 10 pm to 5 am now till April 30th 2021, due to rise in Covid cases. This is the toughest order by the Delhi government since the start of a fresh surge in coronavirus infections in last month.
He told to reporters, “As per the current situation, we are not considering imposing a lockdown. We are closely monitoring the situation and such a decision will only be taken after due public consultation”.
Delhi has recorded 3,548 fresh covid 19 cases and 15 deaths.
The officials said that, during night curfew hours, they will not stop traffic movement and those going for vaccinations will be allowed with an e-pass.
The jounalists and the electronic media people and the people in essential services and retailers, , who has to travel after hours for ration, grocery stocks, vegetables, milk and medicines are also to be allowed with e-passes. The pregnant women and the the people needing treatment will have Exceptions.
The Delhi Government said that the night curfew in Delhi was being enforced to check the movement of people, not essential services.
States like Maharashtra and Rajasthan have also launched night curfews to restrict the movement in the middle of a spike in Covid cases across the country. On Monday, the number of covid cases crossed one lakh in 24 hours for the first time in India.
Maharashtra has announced a weekend lockdown and a tough 8 pm to 7 am curfew and the Rajasthan’s night curfew is from 8 pm to 6 am.
